Ron first played baseball with the Adelaide Baseball Club in 1956 aged 13.

By 1960 he was a regular Major B (Division 2) team player at age 17.

Towards the end of the 1960 season he was promoted to Adelaide’s Major A team (Division 1) and was lucky enough to play short stop for them when Adelaide won the Major A Premiership by defeating Kensington in the grand final.

This was the Club’s second A Grade premiership. The first was in 1914. Ron’s baseball skills improved and he became a regular A Grade player for the Club.

Claxton Shield

Ron was selected to play Claxton Shield for South Australia six times, in years 1963, 68, 69, 70, 72 and 76.

State Coach.

He also coached the South Australian Claxton Shield team in 1977 and 1978.

1977 coached the South Australian Team against Japan at Norwood Oval.

 Premierships.

1971- 1972 season coached East Torrens to the League Division premiership.

1973 -1974 season, coached East Torrens to the Major Division premiership.

1975 – 1976 season, coached East Torrens to the Division One premiership.

1976 – 1977 season, coached Glenelg to the Division One premiership.

1978 – 1979 season, coached Glenelg to the Division One premiership.

Capps Medal.

Ron won the Capps Medal in season 1969 while playing with the Adelaide Club.

Australian Team.

1969 was selected for the Australian team in a tournament played in the Philippines.

1970 was selected for the Australian team in a tournament played in Australia.

Club Coach.

1982/83 and 83/34 Coached the Northern Districts club..

1984/85 and 85/86 Coached the Central Districts club.

1983/84 Ron was elected President of the South Australian Baseball League for one season.

1990 – 1991 to 1994 – 1995.Ron was employed by the South Australian Baseball League as full time Development Officer.

1995 – 1996. Ron accepted the full time position of Finance and Administration Officer for the South Australian Baseball League. This position was re-classified to General Manager until his resignation on the 31^st December 2001.

1992 Ron was presented with Life Member of the East Torrens Baseball Club.

1999 Ron was presented with life membership of the South Australian Baseball League.
